Midwest Center for Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery has a dedicated clinical research division, the Michigan Center for Skin Care Research. We conduct medical and cosmetic research trials in collaboration with pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical companies, laser manufacturers, and clinical research organizations. For over 30 years, we have successfully conducted clinical trials to help bring new medications and treatment options to market. Our extensive experience allows us to provide the highest quality care to the volunteers who participate in our research studies.
Not every dermatology practice conducts clinical research, but research is essential for advancing medical science. Together, we work toward developing future treatments that can improve your health and the health of others.
OUR PROCESS
Once a patient fills out a trial request form on our website or contacts our office directly, a team member will reach out via phone or email. During this initial contact, we provide information about the trial to help the patient understand what participation involves.
If the patient expresses interest, we review the eligibility criteria to determine whether they meet the basic requirements for the trial. If they appear to be a good candidate, we schedule a qualifying visit to review their medical history, current medications and the condition being studied.
If all eligibility criteria are met, the patient will return for a screening visit. Following successful screening, a baseline visit will be scheduled, during which we initiate the investigational product (IP). The patient is then expected to attend all follow-up visits, as outlined by the study protocol—typically every 2 to 4 weeks.
At the conclusion of the study, participants are advised to return to their dermatologist or primary care provider for ongoing care.
