Warts

Common warts, flat warts and plantar warts are caused by different strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV) and appear on the hands, face, feet or genitals.

What is it?

Warts are benign, rough-textured protrusions that appear on the skin when the human papillomavirus (HPV) infiltrates the body via a skin tear or wound. These elevated, flesh-tone growths can materialize anywhere on the body and resemble blisters. While they are harmless, most of our patients opt to have them removed as they deem them unsightly or annoying. The classification of warts include:

  • Common warts, typically found on hands, fingers, around nail beds or on the backs of hands.
  • Plantar warts, which surface on the soles of the feet and can become uncomfortable without proper treatment.
  • Flat warts, which can emerge anywhere on the body.
  • Filiform warts, which appear like threads on the face.

How is it treated?

Though there is no known cure for the virus that triggers warts, our board-certified dermatologists and providers are equipped to handle warts as soon as they surface to minimize and ultimately stop their expansion and spread. We provide an array of treatments, including injections, salicylic acid treatments, cryotherapy, excision, chemical peels, immunotherapy, topical creams and laser treatment to combat and remove unsightly warts. Simply put, we've got you!

If you are dealing with a wart, make an appointment at one of our medical practices located in Farmington Hills, Shelby Township, Clinton Township, Warren or St. Claire Shores, Michigan.
